Fund a Shallow Well for Max Schorer's Birthday!
Hi Friends and Family,
As many of you have likely seen on Facebook, my 26th birthday is rapidly approaching. The truth is that I own way too much stuff, have enough money, and possess a biological predisposition towards alcoholism (damn you genetics!). So instead of buying me Fireball shots or giving me stuff this weekend, I am asking you to help me support the work of the Uganda Village Project (UVP), a small international NGO that provides rural villages with health education and services. In the past decade, UVP has worked in 23 villages to improve community health and well-being through access to services, health and behavior change education, and prevention information.
My goal is to raise $1200 – enough to fund a clean water source that will serve hundreds of residents in a village. It’s a concrete way to improve a community’s health, and will probably be more of a net positive to the world than my (unsuccessful) attempts to hit on girls this weekend.
If you’re interested in learning more about UVP, visit ugandavillageproject.org, or feel free to contact me and I’ll see what I can do. Thanks again for your support, and remember: I will value your friendship in direct proportion to your donation.
Best,
Max
PS- I know it says this is for the Internship Program, but ignore this. Funds will be used to support UVP programming such as the construction of a shallow well. Also thank you (Dr.?) Anthony Bui for the inspiration.
About the Uganda Village Project
Since 2003, Uganda Village Project has been working with the people of Iganga to promote public health and sustainable development in the rural communities of this marginalized district in southeast Uganda. We work at a village-by-village level to address the most pressing healthcare concerns of each community, including malaria, HIV and STIs, household sanitation and hygiene, family planning access, obstetric fistula awareness and repair, and provision of clean water through shallow wells.
