Funding a shallow well for Anthony Bui's birthday
Edit 6/9/2014 –
Thanks so much to everyone who donated. Through this online fundraiser and personal checks, we raised over $2600 to support UVP programs. That is more than TWO shallow wells! Every amount of money helps — thanks so much for your generosity.
Much love,
Anthony
—————
Hello friends.
For my 26th birthday, I am asking you to help me support the work of the Uganda Village Project (UVP), a small international NGO that provides rural villages with health education and services. In the past decade, UVP has worked in 23 villages to improve community health and well-being through access to services, health and behavior change education, and prevention information.
I first worked with UVP in 2009 as a field intern and since 2011 have been a member of the Board of Directors. I’m inspired by the work our staff and volunteers do and value how they collaborate with local community members to effect long-lasting change.
My goal is to raise $1200 – enough to fund a clean water source that will serve hundreds of residents in a village. It’s a concrete way to improve a community’s health. Instead of buying me a well drink this week, help me fund a shallow well! (catchy eh?)
If you’re interested in learning more about UVP, visit ugandavillageproject.org, or hollar at me!
Much love,
Anthony
PS I know it says this is for the Internship Program, but ignore this. Funds will be used to support UVP programming such as the construction of a shallow well.
About the Uganda Village Project
Since 2003, Uganda Village Project has been working with the people of Iganga to promote public health and sustainable development in the rural communities of this marginalized district in southeast Uganda. We work at a village-by-village level to address the most pressing healthcare concerns of each community, including malaria, HIV and STIs, household sanitation and hygiene, family planning access, obstetric fistula awareness and repair, and provision of clean water through shallow wells.
