The Doug Walker Challenge Course, Help me raise money to rebuild
I walked into Doug’s house one day in college and he said, “heeey, Bilbo!” It froze me. “Why are you calling me Bilbo?” I asked. “Because of how much you love Cakes and Ale”. He said it with such love and approval that it made me love these things even more. Such was the power of Doug, (one of his many) he made you love good things all the more. And then he put his mind to using this sensational talent on things more meaningful than cakes and Ale. He used it with kids to teach them to love and believe in themselves, to love and believe in the glory of nature, and in turn to realize they are the same. Doug was like a kite. He glided gracefully by my family; we all grabbed hold of the tail, which was there for the grabbing, he soared and we enjoyed the ride as our view expanded wider and wider. The thanks we give to him is the knowledge that his vision and work goes on. I know that this is what he wants and this is why I have joined the cause to rebuild the Doug Walker Challenge Course.
Bobby
We were part of a magical run in time when each of us were exploring the world, setting new paths for ourselves, meeting new people, etc. – but were bonded by our simple appreciation for life, family, and experiences with hometown friends and the world around us. There are not many stretches in my life like that, which I hold close in my heart. One foot in living moment to moment in our teen years, and then broadening our lives in young adulthood through travel, education, and following our passions – my friendship and respect of Doug was immense and influential beyond words. His impact with his family, friends, and communities where he lived, gave back, and lived fully is felt and measurable today. I Miss You My Friend.

Doug Walker loved connecting people with nature and dreamed of expanding experiential teaching, with the hope of using a challenge course as a tool; promoting team work, character building and leadership. He was determined to make a positive change in the world, and was an inspiration to us all. Please help us realize Doug’s dream and re-build the Doug Walker Challenge Course at Teton Science Schools.
