What is the Readathon?
The Readathon is a fundraising initiative done through Pratham that encourages kids in the U.S. to read more books and raise money to help less fortunate kids in India learn to read.
How does it work?
Kids ask their friends and family to sponsor them for a dollar amount for each book they read. The more books they read, the more money they raise.
Where does my money go?
All donations go to support Pratham’s Read India initiative, the premier program for teaching underprivileged Indian kids, aged 6-14, basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills. Pratham teams mobilize and train schoolteachers, Anganwadi workers and volunteers to work with children and their mothers outside school.
Who can participate?
Kids of any age can participate (adults too!). Children too young to read can have a parent or other older siblings read to them, and count those books.
Why participate?
Kids will read more this summer, which helps them learn. Readers will learn the value of helping others and participating in community service.
Are there prizes?
Certificates of Appreciation go to all readers. Prizes are available for readers who raise $100, $250, $500, or more. A Youth Leader Award will be give to the Readathon Coordinator whose team raises the most money.
What is a Readathon Coordinator?
Readathon Coordinators (RCs) are high school students who volunteer to lead younger teams of readers and guide, support, and cheer them on. RC’s learn good leadership skills, and their experience will look great on a resume or college application.
How do I know my donation will make a difference?
With every $500 raised, 34 kids in India will be helped through the Pratham Read India program. All donors will receive a story about a group of students helped through money raised in the Readathon.

100% of all donations will go directly to Pratham USA. SeeYourImpact.org even covers credit card fees to save money for Pratham. When you make a donation, you have the option to give an additional gift to SeeYourImpact to help cover their operating expenses.

I’m so glad that people made this fundrasier so that it benefits both sides! Kids in India get an education, and the people raising money for them are even more inspired to read since it is going for a good cause! I want to help these children because I feel that it is unfair that kids who are the same as me don’t have the same privileges as me.

I’ve always been inspired to read and I hope these children that we are helping will also be inspired because of this fundraiser and the people that took part in it. I will most likely be reading fantasy, science fiction, and adventure books during this read-a-thon.

Books that I have read so far this summer-

1. Hero’s Song~ Claude’s sister goes missing. So he seeks out a wizard to help him find her.

2. The City of Lies~ It’s about a girl named Goldie who’s offered a job as the 5th keeper in the museum of secrets. But she can’t decide whether or not to go because of her parents health condition.

3. The Serpents Shadow~ Carter and Sadie Kane have to save the world from Apophis (a demon in Egyptian mythology that tries to eat the Sun). But they have to get the gods to cooperate with them first!

4. The Muesum of Thieves ~ Goldie Roth and Toadspit have to save their city from falling to destruction.

5. The Ring of Fire~ It’s about Danny who finds out he comes from a long line of spy’s that has worked for the government for decades.

6. The Golden Compass~ Lyra takes a long and hard journey north to save her friend from being a lab rat of dangerous science experiments.

7. Artemis Fowl the Last Guardiain~ It’s up to Artemis fowl and his friends including Holly Short, the elf, his butler, and a whole lot more people to save the world from total destruction, again.

Books that I have read in the past and enjoyed-

.The Percy Jackson series
. The Lost Hero series
. The Kane Chronicles
. The Demon King series~ One of my favorite :D
. The Heir series
. Harry Potter
. Maze Runners ( 1st book)
. Artemis Fowl series
. Artethon series
These are alot of the series I have read that I liked so far. ( Though there are many more :) )

Some of the books that I am planing to read are-

. The Demon King Series~ The Crimson Crown
. The Lost Hero Series~ The Mark of Athena
. The Alchemist

I’m going into 6th grade and I hope that you will support this purpose. :D

Support a child’s right to an education!

Pratham is a grass roots organization committed to the task of removing illiteracy in India.

SeeYourImpact.org is a revolutionary way to help those in need around the world.

All funds raised in Pratham’s Readathon will be used to enable less fortunate children in India to succeed in school.

Just $14 provides a year of after-school tutoring to a child in India through Pratham’s Read India Program.

When you support a child in Pratham’s Readathon through SeeYourImpact.org, you are not only supporting primary education of disadvantaged children in India and making a positive impact on their future, you are also encouraging children here to develop an appreciation for reading, introducing them to the gift of giving and helping them to appreciate the excellent education available in the US.

Even better, you’ll meet the child in India who is matched to your donation!

Tell Anwesha why you this cause!
