Every book I read helps educate a child in India
Dear Friends,
I am participating in Pratham USA Readathon 2016 because I want to help less fortunate children attend Pratham schools and learn to read, write and count well. Pratham is a non-profit organization that is educating millions of kids in India ever since it was founded in 1995. It is very well known and has won many international awards for its work in child literacy and education. Pratham USA raises funds and awareness in the US for this important cause. Please visit www.prathamusa.org for more information.
Pratham USA only needs $25 to provide a child in India with an education for a WHOLE YEAR.
I enjoy reading because when I read, I can learn a lot, meet new people, discover new places, find new ideas, improve my vocabulary, use my imagination and never get bored! I am so happy that with your donations, my reading will help many other children. I am planning on reading at least 50 books this summer. Please support my Readathon by making a donation to Pratham USA today.
Over the year I’ve read many books. Some of them I read because I found them interesting and some were because my school made us read them. Overall, I think each book has its own mood that’s specifically made for the plot.
One of my favorite books that I have read is “Paper Towns” by John Green. John Green is an American author who has gotten several awards for his books. This book explores mystery and romance. After Margo Roth Spiegelman disappears again, it’s up to Quentin, her neighbor/secret admirer, to find her and bring her back.
As a part of the curriculum, my school made us read a mystery/crime novel called “And then there were none” by Agatha Christie. She has won many awards for her novels and is considered the queen of mystery. This book is about how 10 people were lured into coming to an island and justice.
Another book that I just finished is Double Identity, by Margaret Peterson Haddix. The genre of this book is fiction. Double Identity is about a thirteen year old girl named Bethany who has overprotective parents. One day her parents drop her off at her aunts house who she never met before. She is worried that her parents are running away from someone dangerous. Will she unravel the secrets of her past?
Thank you for taking your time to read this.
Love,
Soumya
