What is the Readathon?
The Readathon is a fundraising initiative done through Pratham that encourages kids in the U.S. to read more books and raise money to help less fortunate kids in India learn to read.
How does it work?
Kids ask their friends and family to sponsor them for a dollar amount for each book they read. The more books they read, the more money they raise.
Where does my money go?
All donations go to support Pratham’s Read India initiative, the premier program for teaching underprivileged Indian kids, aged 6-14, basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills. Pratham teams mobilize and train schoolteachers, Anganwadi workers and volunteers to work with children and their mothers outside school.
Who can participate?
Kids of any age can participate (adults too!). Children too young to read can have a parent or other older siblings read to them, and count those books.
Why participate?
Kids will read more this summer, which helps them learn. Readers will learn the value of helping others and participating in community service.
Are there prizes?
Certificates of Appreciation go to all readers. Prizes are available for readers who raise $100, $250, $500, or more. A Youth Leader Award will be give to the Readathon Coordinator whose team raises the most money.
What is a Readathon Coordinator?
Readathon Coordinators (RCs) are high school students who volunteer to lead younger teams of readers and guide, support, and cheer them on. RC’s learn good leadership skills, and their experience will look great on a resume or college application.
How do I know my donation will make a difference?
With every $500 raised, 34 kids in India will be helped through the Pratham Read India program. All donors will receive a story about a group of students helped through money raised in the Readathon.

100% of all donations will go directly to Pratham USA. SeeYourImpact.org even covers credit card fees to save money for Pratham. When you make a donation, you have the option to give an additional gift to SeeYourImpact to help cover their operating expenses.

Education is very important in life and plays major role in every ones’ career. I want to help kids in India because they do not have enough facilities to improve their educational standards.

I like to read books of thriller genre, because it inspires me to get glued to read more to know what happens next. I would also like to read mostly a lot of fiction and fantasy books. I probably am going to read about 1 or 2 non-fiction or biographies.

15th June 2012

Today I read a anime called Fullmetal Alchemist. Its’ really interesting and confusing. The character I like most is is the main character called Edward Elric a.k.a The Fullmetal Alchemist. There are many things I could say about this anime, but boring definitely is’t one of them! The biography I read today is called the Sri Sai Sactharitra and it is about Saibaba and his wonderful lessons about life.

17th June 2012

Today I read the billionaire’s curse. It was about a kid named Gerald finds out that he inherits a fortune up to 20,000,000,000 pounds from his great-aunt that he never met.
He gets a letter asking him to find her murderer. Gerald is the richest kid in the whole of England. The two drawbacks are, first is that he gets pulled into something he doesn’t even understand. The second is there are people who are trying to kill him.
This is a really good book and I highly recommend this book to very vivid readers.

20th June 2012

Today I read 2 books from a series called Septimus Heap. The names are Flyte and Physik. This series has every thing from dragons to wizards. I really would recommend
this book to any body that likes Fiction or Fantasy books. I also read comics known as Asterix. It is really funny. So, if you like comics this might be for you.

27th June 2012

Today read a book, from the Septimus Heap series, called Queste. It’s about Septimus on an adventure to save his brother and friend. I have to tell you, it’s a thriller.

28th June 2012

Today I read another book from the Septimus Heap series called Syren. The plot is twisting and winding so much I don’t know where to start. I would recommend this book to anybody that can follow along.

7th July 2012

Today I read 7 comics called Uncle Scrooge. It’s funny and “comical”, if you know what I mean. After that read the final book for the Septimus Heap series called Darke. I can’t spoil it for you so read it for yourselves. After that experience I read The Kane chronicles The Serpent’s Shadow. I’m telling you its a good book. Next I read A book called Dragonborn. This book is about a wizard named Sam who is like any other wizard except he has a srange power to summon dragon at will. This makes him a very powerful called a Dragonborn which also means he is also part dragon. If you are ever going to read this series I guarantee that you will like this book.

11th July 2012

Today I read two books from the Beast Quest series. This series is about a boy named Tom that is sent on a quest to free sacred and powerful beasts from the evil spell of a evil wizard called Malvel. The thing I like about this book is that the plot is simple. I also read three books from the Merlin’s Dragon series and it is a great series. I hope people will read and enjoy this series.
