Every book I read helps educate a child in India
Hello! My name is Anwesha and this is my second year participating in the Pratham readathon. I’m going to 7th grade this year, and my school life is getting more and more hectic! But that doesn’t mean I don’t have the time to sit down and read a book. And now with Pratham, while I’m doing something I love, I’m also helping other kids from around the world, it truly is a win-win situation. I think that every young child should be able to have the ability to unlock the world of reading. But in order to unlock that door, a child must have a key, the key of education. And sadly, not all children are given that key. That’s why the Pratham exists. We give children that key of education so that they can enter the world of reading.
Why I think entering the world of reading is important?
So you ask why I think entering the world of reading is important? Well, if I were to truly answer that question, this page would have no end to it! But I suppose I can give you a brief summary………………….
If children don’t know how to read, their imagination won’t be as vivid and colourful. Without all these colours and thoughts, the child will be less creative and less sociable. Without these traits, a child will most likely become depressed, and depression is one of the worst things that could happen to a child, especially at a young age. I despise the thought of such bright minds falling into depression. That’s why I want to give every child the chance to learn how to read.
I’m going to try to read 5-10 books this summer
Some book’s I am planing to read:
1. Prodigy (The legend trilogy) by Marie Lu [check!]
Summary- June and Day arrive in Vegas just as the Elector Primo dies, and his son Anden takes his place. The two join a group of Patriot rebels eager to help Day rescue his brother and offer passage to the Colonies. But the only catch is, June has to assassinate the new elector.
2. Champion (The legend trilogy) by Marie Lu
3. The mark of Athena ( The Heroes of Olympus series) by Rick Riordan [Check!]
Summary- Right after Annabeth just gets reunited with Percy–after six months of being apart- Camp Jupiter starts preparing for war. She can’t blame the Roman demigods for thinking the ship is a Greek weapon. With its steaming bronze dragon masthead, Leo’s fantastical creation doesn’t appear friendly. Annabeth hopes that the sight of their praetor Jason on deck will reassure the Romans that the visitors from Camp Half-Blood are coming in peace.
4. Caught (The Missing novel series) by Margaret Peterson Haddix [Check!]
Summary- In the book caught, Jonah and Katherine have to go back in time to save Einstein’s illegitimate daughter Lieserl. They also have to keep Einstein from discovering time travel and ruining history.
5. Running out of time by Margaret Peterson Haddix
