Children of Rampurwa Enjoy a Brighter Future!
Lack of proper sanitation facilities have long been understood as the largest negative impact on public health. Without proper sanitation, infant mortality is high, life expectancy is short, and overall community well-being is severely limited. Pooja, Jo, Chris, David, Tom, Lesley, UBS, and Glen- Today this family can experience a healthier life, and these children can now enjoy a brighter future because of you!
Akul Ram and his three children live in Rampurwa, Nepal. Ethnically, they are Dalits, often called “untouchables”, who face stark social and economic discrimination. The Living Earth Institute has been working together with a local NGO, Development Alternative Organization (Bikas Bikalpa Sanstha), to drastically improve sanitation facilities and health awareness in Rampurwa. The project works with the local community to define their needs and provides the organization and resources for the village to meet them. This project also provides employment for Akul- he is now a village maintenance worker helping all families with construction and maintenance activities for new water supply and sanitation systems.
Pooja, Jo, Chris, David, Tom, Lesley, UBS and Glen (three shares!)–thanks so much for your generosity!
