What is the Readathon?
Pratham USA Readathon 2015 is a fundraising initiative that encourages kids in the U.S. to read more books and raise money to help less fortunate kids in India learn to read.
How does it work?
Kids ask their friends and family to donate money to Pratham for every book they read. The more books they read, the more money they raise. Learn more here.
Where does my money go?
All donations to the Readathon go to support Pratham’s work for child education in India. With the help of trained professionals and dedicated volunteers, Pratham runs pre-schools and after-school programs in many cities and villages of India so that underprivileged children can read, write and count at their appropriate grade level. Pratham needs only $25 to educate one child for one whole year.Pratham receives 97% of the money you donate here. 2.9% + 30 cents is charged by the credit card processing company. We thank SeeYourImpact for providing Pratham with its Storytelling Donation platform free of cost.
Who can participate?
Kids of any age can participate (adults too!). Children too young to read can have a parent or older siblings read to them.
Why participate?
Reading is good for everyone. Reading to help others learn to read is Great!Participating in this Readathon is an amazing way to do community service, and enjoy the benefits of reading at the same time – increased vocabulary, improved communication skills and the joy of helping others.
Are there prizes?

A Young Reader Award for the reader who raises the most money and a Young Leader Award for the Readathon Coordinator who demonstrates strong leadership skills and whose team raises a significant amount of money. Loric vs. Mogadorians

For the past 6 years I have continued to read the “I Am Number Four” book series. “I Am Number Four” is a exciting science fiction series based on a war between two races called the Loric and Mogadorians. The Loric have taken refuge on Earth after their planet, Lorien, was destroyed by the Mogadorians. There are only 18 Lorics left in the universe and they are all in hiding on Earth. 9 of the Lorics on Earth are called Garde and as they get older gain legacies similar to superpowers. The other 9 Loric on Earth are called Cêpans and they are their to train and teach the Garde to use their legacies. 3 of the Garde and their Cêpans have died and it is up to the remaining 12 to unite and fight for their race. Each year a new book in the series comes out, and this year the final book is being released! I cant wait to find out how the Loric will save their race and be freed from the Mogadorians evil reign!

Agatha Christie

This summer I have been reading a couple books by the author Agatha Christie. Christie was a well-known and famed bestselling mystery writer. I read her masterpiece “And Then There Were None” and I am currently reading “Five Little Piggies”. I love to read murder mysteries like these books, and I am also a fan of the TV shows “Castle” and “Whodunnit?”. The attached video is the movie trailer for the “And Then There Were None” movie that was made in 1974. Although the special effects are a little cheesy and outdated, the plot is suspenseful and action-packed. I can’t wait to read more of Agatha Christie’s exciting thrillers.
