The 2013 "Virtual BBQ" Fundraiser is Heating Up!

Hello Friends and Family!

The awesome organization that I work for, Kids Co., is kicking off their yearly scholarship fundraiser for 2013. We are raising funds for scholarships to send students to our before and after school programs in grade schools across the city of Seattle.

After working in this field in this city for the past 5 years, I am still blown away by how much need there is for these kind of services. So many families have two working professional parents (or, just one parent) which leaves children needing a place to find safe and fun care after school. I’m immensely proud to play a roll in helping these kids gain new social skills, get academic support, learn more about themselves and the world around them…basically to help give them awesome experiences as a child, even if they are away from home 7:00 am- 6:00 pm, Monday- Friday…every week!

If you’re not familiar with Kids Co., it is a local (Seattle) nonprofit, onsite at 11 public schools in Seattle and on Mercer Island, that care for more than 1,500 children, ages 2 ½ to 12, 52 weeks a year. What makes Kids Co. extraordinary is that not once in its 24 year history has this nonprofit turned away a child from enrolling in its programming for reasons of financial circumstance. When you think about this, it’s incredibly impressive, especially when you realize that we are talking about thousands of children-over 300 alone this year!

My childhood was awesome! I got to go home to my mom every day after school and play with my brothers and friends. These kids can’t do that so I’m super proud that they get to come to me and have fun. If you think you could help out with this cause that is so near & dear to me, I would really appreciate it. My initial ask is $10 but you can give more (or less) for sure!
