Join Joshua in support of Uganda Village Project's Intern Campaign
Joshua
"Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love."
My name is Josh and I have the amazing privilege of going to Uganda this summer to support the Uganda Village Project in the district of Iganga.
Uganda Village Project celebrated their 10 year anniversary last year, and in that time, they have worked in some of the most impoverished villages to improve community health and well-being through access to clean water, health and behavior change education, and prevention information.
Of all the issues that the project addresses, I am most excited to work with Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. It is the focus of my graduate studies but it is also the sad reality that lack of clean water is one of the leading causes of death and sickness in the world today. In addition, I’m thrilled not only to learn about public health practices on the ground level, but also to live and grow together with Ugandans in their everyday struggles.
Nothing I do will change the world on its own – I’m just one man and an average one at that. However, I can play my part to the best of my ability and have no regrets. As Mother Teresa once said – “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
Thank you so much for your time and if any of what I’ve said resonated with you, please feel free to give what you’re able to support this internship and UVP’s cause. Thank you once again and remember that you too can affect your community through small acts with great love.
Best,
Josh Lee
About the Uganda Village Project
Since 2003, Uganda Village Project has been working with the people of Iganga to promote public health and sustainable development in the rural communities of this marginalized district in southeast Uganda. We work at a village-by-village level to address the most pressing healthcare concerns of each community, including malaria, HIV and STIs, household sanitation and hygiene, family planning access, obstetric fistula awareness and repair, and provision of clean water through shallow wells.
