Every book I read helps educate a child in India
Hello Everyone!
My name is Anushka Haldar and i am a 16 year old at Glenbrook South High school. Last year when I attended a fundraiser for Pratham organization, I learned about the contributions this organization makes in helping to educate school children in India. Coming from an Indian background and having visited India I realized that there is a large percent of the population of children who do not have opportunity to get a good education due to lack of resources. Upon educating myself more about organization I learned of the readathon that they hold every year. The readathon stuck out to me because one of my passions is to read. Reading transports me into another world full of imagination. I could not fathom the number of children in India who do not have the resources to transport themselves into this amazing world. Throughout the readathon I plan on reading many books. Such as Brave New World, Pride and Prejudice, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Moby Dick, The Divine Comedy, Under the Volcano, White Noise, Wonder Boys, Breakfast of Champions, and Earth Abides. Come and Join me and try to educate these poor children in India. Thank you!
