New Leaders: Giving Tuesday

Hello Friends and Family!

This holiday season, my organization – New Leaders – is participating in Giving Tuesday, a national movement to encourage people to give back during the holidays.

:: A BIT ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION ::
New Leaders is a national nonprofit organization that develops transformational school leaders, with a fundamental belief that attracting and preparing outstanding principals and supporting the performance of the high-need schools they lead will help us improve K-12 education for students across the country.

Since our founding, the New Leaders community has grown from 13 educators trained in two cities to more than 800 educators trained in twelve urban areas through our Aspiring Principals Program. Here in Chicago, one of the two original city programs, our leaders currently serve over 100,000 CPS students, and our principals are seeing student achievement increases in their schools that are outpacing similar schools in the district. Many New Leaders have transformed some of the lowest-performing schools in Chicago where most students previously failed to meet standards.

:: MY ROLE ::
I have worked for New Leaders for over seven years and have recently stepped into the Director of Development position for the Chicago office. That means I am directly responsible for raising the funds that support the training, development, and support of the teacher leaders, aspiring principals, and principals in our community. The primary reason that I took this role is that I STRONGLY believe in the work we are doing and the changes that we are making for kids in Chicago.

:: MY REQUEST ::
In conjunction with “Giving Tuesday”, I’m asking all of my friends and family to support the efforts of New Leaders. I believe that investing in education is the most important thing we can do for our children and our country – and making sure every school has a great leader is the best way to make a difference.
