Be a cheerleader for our community's deaf and hard-of-hearing children!
I want to invite my friends and family to join me in supporting our region’s deaf and hard-of-hearing children this school year.
When deaf or hard-of-hearing children fall behind in our public schools, many Western Washington school districts turn to the Northwest School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children (NWSDHH). There, students get personalized instruction that prepares them to be self-confident, articulate, academically competitive learners and citizens. The outcome is impressive: while most deaf students graduate from high school reading at a third or fourth grade level, NWSDHH’s students graduate from high school with reading skills at or near grade level and nearly all go on to pursue a college degree.
Unfortunately, public funding doesn’t cover the true cost of educating a deaf or hard-of-hearing student. To keep this extraordinary educational resource within reach for all Washington families, NWSDHH needs our support.
Please join me in becoming a cheerleader for the 2014-2015 entering class at the Northwest School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children. Together we can ensure these students have the support and resources they need to succeed academically, personally and professionally.
About Northwest School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children
Founded in 1982, Northwest School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children is the only preschool through 8th grade private school for deaf children in Washington. Most students attend at no charge thanks to funding from school districts and our donors. Our program empowers students with on grade-level academic skills, the self-esteem to pursue their dreams and the knowledge that deafness is a difference, not a limitation.
