My Father's Passion!
My father, an Air Force veteran and retired Presbyterian minister has a heart and passion for the veterans living at the VRQ. He has been volunteering there 3 times a week. Two as a chaplain there to lend a listening ear and once to conduct a writing class. The class started out small but has grown. This class allows the men to write and share stories they may not have ever told anyone.
This building houses the lobby where a veteran first coming in is told “Welcome Home”, the dining room where 3 meals a day are served for the 250 men living at the VRQ. The kitchen is where volunteers come and prepare the meals and where AB Tech holds culinary classes providing training for new career. Many other classes and activities are held in this building.
The roof has deteriorated past repair. It is critical to the life-safety of these heroes that it be replaced. I am going to help with my own gift and I hope you will you join me in a personal commitment to raise $1,000. Their total goal is only $25,000 and I hope you will join me in putting a roof over the heads of our veterans.
Please help me honor my father and all the veterans who have served this country!
