My virtual table
Why am I hosting a virtual table? It’s because I know that the Boys & Girls Clubs of King County make a positive difference for young people. You hear so many sobering statistics these days — every day in our country, 6,000 kids give up on school. The Clubs reverse this trend and promote healthy behaviors that stick.
Did you know that 97 percent of Club teens expect to complete high school and 88 percent expect to go on to post-secondary education?! Expectations breed success. Together we can help with each story of success in the coming months.
It cost roughly $1500 a year ($80.33 a month) to service one club member. Please keep this in mind as you consider a gift within your means and stretch a little if you can as your gift will help us kids achieve their dream-especially those who need us the most. Below are just a few examples of ways your generous donation can impact kids. Thank you for your generosity!
About the Joel E. Smilow Clubhouse and Teen Center at Rainier Vista
Kids may walk through the SRV doors for the fun we offer, but we do far more than entertain these youngsters. Our nationally recognized programs and activities impact children in three essential ways:
- Academic success—Improving grades, reducing high school drop-out rates, and teaching kids to see themselves as learners.
- Good character and citizenship—Encouraging community service, reducing juvenile crime rates, and instilling an attitude of engagement.
- Healthy lifestyles—Teaching healthy behaviors, reducing drug use and childhood obesity, and fostering a positive self-image.
It is the vision of the SRV team that any club member who wants to enhance or change their life direction or outcomes could be a part of our club and the great programming that goes on for ages 5-19.
Tell Brian why you this cause!
